Handpicked raw materials
› Handpicked raw materials

As part of its global approach to optimisation of environmental impact, the Intermas group undertakes to use only polyethylene and polypropylene, two thermoplastic resins that are amongst the most used in our everyday life and guaranteed to be harmless, non-polluting and 100% recyclable. The raw materials used are in compliance with legislation on the absence of heavy metals. As proof of its commitment to the environment, the group is offering ecological solutions to the different sectors in which it operates, in particular the Packaging business unit for which it is in the process of introducing the use of Oxo Biodegradable raw materials for certain products. It is also manufacturing 100% biodegradable protectors for use in the fields of arboriculture, viticulture and green spaces.

› Production

Our teams are taking continuing steps to reduce the impact of our production tools on the environment, in particular on our 3 industrial sites. These steps involve optimising our resources by:

  • Reducing the quantity of raw materials used and using more and more biodegradable and Oxo Biodegradable raw materials.
  • Reducing water consumption and managing waste water correctly.
  • Reducing energy expenses.
  • Controlling the volume and recycling of waste.
Packaging and wrapping
› Packaging and wrapping
  • Although it is basic, the packaging of our products is also affected by our global approach to reducing the impact on the environment. It is initially a case of renewing the existing packaging in accordance with our requirements in terms of hygiene, safety and protection, but it is also a case of working, in the medium term, to develop new packaging that meets the same obligations and that even exceeds them.
  • A study on optimising our packaging has enabled us to reduce it and to optimise transport, thus lowering CO2 emissions.
Shipping, transport and logistics
› Shipping, transport and logistics
  • One of the priorities of the Intermas group is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution from transporting goods (noise, traffic and traffic jams). Our buyers are tending to purchase more and more raw materials from as close to our production sites as possible and our teams are joining forces with our logistics providers to optimise the scheduled delivery routes, the load factor of lorries or containers and give priority, as far as possible, to the least-polluting modes of transport.

  • Our involvement in the protection of the environment has led us to invest in the creation and continuing improvement of a recycling circuit to remove the protectors from trees (Agriculture Business Unit) and to reuse the plastic residues in various ways. Carrying out this process has enabled us to reaffirm our commitment towards sustainable development. A similar circuit in the Aquaculture Business Unit has also enabled us to recover oyster bags.

Marketed products are chosen in accordance with this environmental vision as well as manufactured products. All of the wood offered by the group, both European and tropical in origin, has FSC® certification, which guarantees control of the origin of the wood, thus certifying the protection and preservation of natural spaces and the conservation of forests. Another ecological product is artificial turf. As it does not need to be watered, it allows water to be saved.

Another advantage for the environment is the fact that fertilisers and pesticides are not used.

› Get our employees involved
› Get our employees involved

Although it is a lot lower than the impact on the environment shared by the industrial sites, the Intermas group is implementing œa proactive policy to make all of its employees aware of "ECO" gestures. In the factories and in the office, it is a question of establishing a real company culture based around sustainable development.
